Christ Church Burial Ground

Christ Church Burial Ground is one of America's most interesting graveyards from the Colonial and Revolutionary Eras; the burial ground has 1,400 markers on two acres. The graveyard is the final resting place for some of America's most prominent leaders including Benjamin Franklin and four other signers of The Declaration of Independence.

You’ll notice that there are likely a lot of coins on top of Franklin’s grave. In spite of the irony with Franklin’s famous saying that “a penny saved is a penny earned,” people toss coins onto his grave for good luck.

When standing on Arch Street facing the grave, immediately to the right, you’ll see Franklin’s "ironclad" resume which lists his many accomplishments during his 84 year life.
