General Directions

By Car

From the North

For people travelling from the North, there are three options: 1) the NJ Turnpike via Betsy Ross Bridge, 2) the NJ Turnpike via the Benjamin Franklin Bridge and 3) I-95:

1. NJ Turnpike via Betsy Ross Bridge:

  • Take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 4.
  • Take Route 73 North to Route 90 (Betsy Ross Bridge).
  • Take the Betsy Ross Bridge into Philadelphia.
  • Follow signs for I-95 South (Center City).
  • Take I-95 South.
  • Follow the signs for Central Phila./I-676 (Exit 22).
  • Follow signs for Phila./Independence Hall/Callowhill Street.
  • Make right at the light.
  • Stay straight on Callowhill St.
  • Turn left onto North 6th Street.
  • Turn left onto Race Street.
  • Turn right into the the National Constitution Center's underground parking garage (entrance is on Race Street between 5th Street and 6th Street).
  • Public tours depart outside the National Constitution Center at 525 Arch St. Tours meet outside the main entrance, next to the stone benches. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour departure time. 

2. NJ Turnpike via Benjamin Franklin Bridge:

  • Take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 4.
  • Take Route 73 North to Route 38 West to US-30.
  • Take US-30 West over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to I-676.
  • Follow signs for 5th and 6th Streets.
  • Stay in right lane.
  • Go past 5th Street exit.
  • Follow signs for Independence Hall/6th Street.
  • Make a right at the first light onto Franklin Street.
  • Go around bend.
  • Merge onto 6th Street South.
  • Stay to your left toward 6th Street/Independence Hall. 
  • Turn left onto Race Street.
  • Turn right into the the National Constitution Center's underground parking garage (entrance is on Race Street between 5th Street and 6th Street).
  • Public tours depart outside the National Constitution Center at 525 Arch St. Tours meet outside the main entrance, next to the stone benches. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour departure time. 

3. Via I-95:

  • Take I-95 South.
  • Follow the signs for Central Phila./I-676 (Exit 22).
  • Stay to your right.
  • Follow signs for Phila./Independence Hall/Callowhill Street.
  • Make right at the light.
  • Stay straight on Callowhill St.
  • Turn left onto North 6th Street.
  • Turn left onto Race Street.
  • Turn right into the the National Constitution Center's underground parking garage (entrance is on Race Street between 5th Street and 6th Street).

From the South

  • Take I-95 North.
  • Follow signs for Central Phila./I-676 (Exit 22).
  • Follow signs for Phila./Independence Hall/Callowhill Street.
  • Keep right at the ramp fork.
  • Stay straight on Callowhill Street.
  • Turn left onto North 6th Street.
  • Tufn left onto Race Street.
  • Turn right into the the National Constitution Center's underground parking garage (entrance is on Race Street between 5th Street and 6th Street).
  • Public tours depart outside the National Constitution Center at 525 Arch St. Tours meet outside the main entrance, next to the stone benches. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour departure time. 

From the West

  • Take I-76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike) to Valley Forge (Exit 326).
  • Follow signs to Philadelphia via I-76 East.
  • Remain on I-76 East for about 25 miles until you see signs for Central Philadelphia.
  • Take I-676 East (Exit 344).
  • Continue on I-676 East to the 8th Street exit.
  • Make a right onto 8th Street.
  • Make a left onto Race Street.
  • Make a right onto 6th Street.
  • Turn left onto Race Street.
  • Turn right into the the National Constitution Center's underground parking garage (entrance is on Race Street between 5th Street and 6th Street)
  • Public tours depart outside the National Constitution Center at 525 Arch St. Tours meet outside the main entrance, next to the stone benches. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour departure time. 

From the East

  • Take Atlantic City Expressway to Route 42 North.
  • Follow Route 42 North to the Benjamin Franklin Bridge (I-676), crossing into Philadelphia.
  • Follow signs for 5th and 6th Streets.
  • Stay in the right lane.
  • Go past 5th Street exit.
  • Follow signs for Independence Hall/6th Street. 
  • Make a right at the first light onto Franklin Street.
  • Go around bend.
  • Merge onto 6th Street South.
  • Stay to your left toward 6th Street/ Independence Hall.
  • Turn left onto Race Street.
  • Turn right into the the National Constitution Center's underground parking garage (entrance is on Race Street between 5th Street and 6th Street)

By Train

Amtrak

Amtrak services Philadelphia's largest train station, 30th Street Station, located at 30th and Market Streets in the University City District. Visitors can walk, take Septa (see below) or a cab to the National Constitution Center at 5th & Arch Streets. PATCO Speedline

Service from Southern New Jersey into Center City Philadelphia is offered by the PATCO Speedline. Take the Speedline to 8th & Market Station. By Plane

The SEPTA Regional Rail R1 Airport Line connects the PHL with Center City Philadelphia.

One-way taxi cab fare from the airport to Center City Philadelphia is $28.50.
