Statement on the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

Summer 2020: Public, VIP, and Field Trips/Group Tours

June 29, 2020

Public Tours

The Constitutional Walking Tour plans to resume limited, in-person, public guided outdoor walking tours on July 1, 2020. Tickets are on sale now by clicking the Buy Tickets button in the upper right corner of the web site or by calling 215.525.1776.

The Constitutional Walking Tour holds the well-being, health, and safety of our customers and staff as a top priority. We will continue to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Pennsylvania Governor Wolf and other governmental agencies.

For the safety of our guides and our visitors, our tour guides will be wearing masks, and we are asking that all of our guests comply with wearing masks (exceptions are made for children under age 3). As per the City of Philadelphia's Mandatory Mask Order on June 26, 2020, masks are required outdoors if people are less than six feet from individuals from other households. We will be advising everyone to follow social distancing guidelines of standing 6 feet apart. We are asking our guests to help accommodate social distancing given that this is an outdoor walking tour, and there are no marked or designated spots on the ground. We be limiting group sizes to 25 or less, as permitted in the "Yellow Phase".

Note that these are exterior only tours and do not go inside any buildings.

Private/VIP Tours

The Constitutional offers private, VIP Tours ranging from 75 minutes to a half day.  You will receive personal attention from your own private tour guide who will provide the highest level of service and attention to detail.  In light of Covid-19, the VIP tour is a great way to see Historic Philadelphia with a totally private experience with just your group and our tour guide.

School Field Trips, Group Tours & Public Tours for Spring 2020

April 6, 2020

Overview
The Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia continues to be open for business to help our customers who have near term bookings reschedule their tours scheduled to occur through April 30, 2020 and book new tours for later in the season.

The Constitutional Walking Tour holds the well-being, health, and safety of our customers and staff as a top priority. We recognize that the Coronavirus presents an evolving and dynamically changing situation (especially for schools), and we are closely monitoring guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other governmental agencies.

Like many of you, we have been intently following reports of Coronavirus Disease, and we have been considering the many ways in which its future course might affect our lives and the lives of those closest to us. These past few weeks have been a powerful reminder of how connected we are to one another, and how our choices today may determine our options tomorrow.

According to the CDC, the chance of becoming gravely ill remains relatively low. However, the threat of this illness can generate very real anxiety, and we are sensitive and respectful to the decisions that school administrators, teachers and group tour leaders may make, acting out of an abundance of caution. We are also mindful as to how the situation may change, and that different people may come to different decisions. To those ends, we have developed the following continuity plans.

Educational Continuity
In light of what other educational institutions are doing, The Constitutional Walking Tour has developed contingency plans to maintain our ability to provide unique educational experiences, even if in-person outdoor walking tours of Historic Philadelphia may be interrupted due to a widespread local outbreak, Independence National Historical Park (INHP) area closing, school closing(s), school(s) being unable to take field trips, or school(s) electing to teach virtually,  etc. Below are some various scenarios:

No Fee Rescheduling and Full Credits Applied to Rescheduled Tours

At this time, The Constitutional's standard Terms and Conditions that existed at the time of booking still apply. All sales are final and tour fees are non-refundable and we are not responsible for cancellations out of our control such as Acts of God and the pandemic. For full Terms and Conditions see https://www.theconstitutional.com/about-us/legal-notices

However, in light of the circumtances, we are offering tour rescheduling options for up to one year from the original tour date, with all change fees waived and full credit applied.

We are waiving all change fees with rescheduling your field trip for later in the school year should concerns over Coronavirus settle down or for the 2020-2021 school year. In either scenario, we would apply the deposit already paid to any remaining balance due, with no change fees.

New tour dates must be mutually agreed upon in writing by the school group and The Constitutional.

Virtual Tours and Remote Learning: Tours & Activities

Similar to how many schools, colleges and universities are planning to offer virtual (remote) instruction, we are offering Virtual Field Trip instruction, tours and activities in order to ensure learning continuity and complement educators' efforts to do the same.

  1. Schools that remain open, but are unable to take field trips on their scheduled tour date - The Constitutional offers Virtual Guided Tours and activities for your students hosted by The Constitutional's same entertaining tour guides who host our regular live guided tours. This can be provided by The Constitutional remotely to a classroom or assembly room full of students via Zoom. This would be offered for the same price as our standard field trips, and allow for the continuity of learning, including for field trips.
  2. Schools that close in school (on-campus) classes, but continue to virtually teach their students - The Constitutional offers Virtual Guided Tours and activities for your students hosted by The Constitutional's same entertaining tour guides who host our regular live guided tours. This can be done be provided by The Constitutional to students individually logging in at the same from their homes, but participating as a group (i.e., Zoom). This would be offered for the same price as our standard field trips, and allow for the continuity of learning, including for field trips.

New Bookings - Book a New Group Tour by April 30, 2020 for Tours Scheduled from Now through July 1, 2020

There is no change fee if your travel plans change and full credit will be offered towards rebooking on another mutually available date.
