In addition to the real Liberty Bell at Independence National Historical Park, the LOVE Statue, and the Rocky Statue, there is another must see Philly photo opportunity that is free to see. This newest selfie-spot features a 19 foot Liberty Bell replica that greets visitors outside of the main entrance to Citizens Bank Park, the home of the Philadelphia Phillies.

Recognizing the historical significance of the Liberty Bell to Philadelphia and to the United States, the Philadelphia Phillies have often incorporated this iconic American symbol into their team logo and ballparks throughout the years. The replica Liberty Bell that now stands outside of Citizens Bank Park (the Bank) is the second and final Liberty Bell that was displayed at Veterans Stadium, the former home of the Phillies from 1971 to 2003. This Liberty Bell was installed on the Vet's catwalk at the top of the stadium prior to the 1983 season.

The Phillies' Liberty Bell replica from the Vet is made of steel and aluminum, and it weighs more than 5,000 pounds, covering roughly 270 square feet and features more than 300 light bulbs. For 21 seasons, this Liberty Bell was a fan favorite and remained high above Center Field until its removal and preparation for the Vet's implosion after the 2003 baseball season.

The Phillies' Liberty Bell was refurbished and placed outside of Citizens Bank Park in March of 2019 near the new Pass and Stow section of the Bank, a name that derives from the two Philadelphia foundry workers, John Pass and John Stow, who recast the original Liberty Bell in 1753, and whose names are inscribed on this quintessential symbol of American freedom.

Inside of the ballpark the Phillies and Aramark, Citizens Bank Park's exclusive food and beverage provider, have transformed 24,500 square feet of space adjacent to the Third Base Plaza into Pass and Stow, a new area that features an outdoor beer garden, Goose Island Bar at the Park, Foundry Pizza, Shake Shack, 44 TVs, and more. It is a great spot to pre-game.

Insider Information

In keeping with Phillies tradition, there is a new Liberty Bell replica installed inside high atop right center field at Citizens Bank Park.  This Liberty Bell replica is 52'x35', and it rings, lights up, swings and changes colors after every Phillies' home run and victory. The Phillies have promoted this with #ringthebell.

The Real Liberty Bell

While the Phillies' Liberty Bell is a cool attraction that does not require any tickets (it is outside of the stadium), all visitors to Philly should visit the real Liberty Bell, the quintessential icon of American Freedom. Visitors taking The Constitutional Walking Tour of Philadelphia will see more than 20 of the most important historical sites including the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.

The Phillies Liberty Bell is conveniently located at Citizens Bank Park which is just 5.7 miles away (about a 13 minute car ride) from the National Constitution Center where The Constitutional's tours start and conclude.
