The Freedom to Speak

America is special for numerous reasons. Whether it's our culture or our landscape there are many unique aspects that set us apart from the rest of the world. However, it is our freedom to speak out against the government that sets us apart from many nations in the world.

Freedom of Speech

"I am no bird; and no one ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will." - Charlotte Bronte. Freedom is something that I think many people take for granted. The official definition of freedom is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. This is such an important right that we have as American citizens, especially in terms of the freedom of speech. It is the foundation of our country. Having the ability to speak freely and stand up for your beliefs is such a powerful thing. People can tell their opinions without feeling afraid.

Freedom of Speech: the Right to Read!

Imagine that you live in a world where the books that you have access to are limited because people do not like the ideas that are in the books. Freedom of speech is so important because it allows people to express their opinions. It also lets us receive information from different points of view without restriction, and enjoy all kinds of books. The First Amendment gives us a fundamental right to read!
